Mayor Frank J. Picozzi
Welcome to the City of Warwick, Rhode Island, which brings the convergence of air, rail, and auto travel to the heart of southern New England, making travel into and out of Warwick hassle-free for your employees and customers alike.
Our robust and diverse commercial base includes a mix of small businesses, manufacturing, industrial, medical and other office uses, along with many retail options, especially along Route 2, Rhode Island’s “Retail Capital.” Sixteen hotels, world-class restaurants, and a thriving maritime industry along with other ancillary businesses, strongly support the Ocean State’s vibrant hospitality and tourism industries.
The award-winning City Centre Warwick transit-oriented development district comprises more than 100 acres surrounding Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport and the InterLink Intermodal MBTA commuter rail station. It has seen tremendous development momentum in recent years, and interest in the area only continues to grow. City Centre’s special zoning for the area encourages high-density, multi-family, and mixed-use developments, and tax stabilization agreements for qualified projects make City Centre an especially attractive and feasible location for any number of industries. The live/work/play environment this district is creating is bringing great new energy to the area.
In addition, Warwick offers employers a highly-educated, skilled labor force within a 50-mile radius in a tax-friendly environment. The state’s elimination of the long-burdensome motor vehicle tax and the creation of a $50,000 exemption to all tangible tax accounts is making Rhode Island more affordable and friendly for residents and businesses alike. (The tangible tax law is expected to eliminate this tax burden for 75 percent of Rhode Island businesses.)
But we’re not all work and no play here. Those who wish to live and work in Warwick will find exceptional municipal services, terrific recreational facilities, an abundance of events and activities for all ages, good schools, and a diverse, affordable housing stock in safe neighborhoods. Add to that salt- and fresh-water ponds, beaches, miles of biking and walking trails, ice rinks, pools, and public golf courses, horseback riding, historical sites, 39 miles of coastline, and an abundance of open space, and you’ll see why so many people and businesses are eager to make Warwick their home.
